Description:

Kemenyan (Stryrax sp), which belongs to the Stryraccaceae family of the Ebeneles order, is cultivated by the people of North Sumatra in seven regencies, especially in North Tapanuli, Humbang Hasundutan, West Pakpak and Toba Samosir regencies. This plant is also developed in Dairi, South Tapanuli, and Central Tapanuli, although not too much. While the largest incense producers are still in North Tapanuli and Humbang Hasundutan (Alamendah 2011). Frankincense is a form of dried sap taken from the frankincense tree. The sap is commonly known as benzoid, taken from Arabic, benz means fragrant, boa means latex, so the word benzoid means sweet-smelling latex.
