DESCRIPTION:
We obtain Green Betel
Oil from extracting green betel leaves (Piper betle) by steam distillation, the
resulting oil is pale yellow to yellowish brown. This oil has a distinctive,
fresh, aromatic aroma with a spicy and spicy touch. The chemical compounds in
this oil are beta-caryophyllene, eugenol, estragole, and various terpenes.
Betel's natural chemical compounds are antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic
and anti-inflammatory[1].

Betel is included in
the Piperaceae family, is a type of climbing plant and rests on the trunk of
another tree, which is 5-15 meters high. Betel has single leaves located
alternately with varying shapes ranging from ovate or oval, heart-shaped base
or slightly rounded with a slight curve, pointed leaf tip, flat leaf edge
slightly rolled downwards, 5-18 cm long, 3-12 cm wide. The leaves are green,
the lower surface is slightly rough, dull, the leaf veins are prominent, the
aromatic smell is distinctive, the taste is spicy [2].
HISTORY:
This growth is
believed to have originated in the Malay Archipelago and then spread to
tropical Asia and Malaysia. Its use dates back about two thousand years. Betel
cultivation started in South Asia with India earning around Rs.7000 million per
year[3]. Betel oil has been used in various traditional medicines such as
Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic systems and folklore medicines of Latin
America and the West Indies. Fresh, aromatic betel leaves are consumed as a
chewing agent and for medicinal purposes in Southeast Asian countries[1].
