Plumeria alba has various bioactive elements such as sterols, carbohydrates, tannins, triterpenoids and iridoid glycosides. The plant contains a mixture of amyrins, ß sitosterolscopotein, iridoid sisoplumericin, plumeride, plumeridecoumerate and plumeridecoumerateglucoside. The stem part of the leaves contains steroids, flavonoids and alkaloids.

Our frangipani essential oil is obtained from Cambodian flower extract using a solvent extraction method using n-Hexane. The oil produced is a slightly thick yellow liquid with a strong and soft characteristic aroma of frangipani flowers. This oil's aphrodisiac reputation can maintain and balance moisture in the skin and treat infections for smooth, radiant skin[1,2,3].

BOTANICAL AT A GLANCE:

Plumeria alba, commonly called white frangipani or nosegay, is a small round leaf tree from the dogbane family. The frangipani plant grows upright and spreads to a height of 7-8 m (20-25 ft). This plant displays fragrant white flowers with yellow centers. The upright branches are thick but weak, and have a milky sap.

This species is native to Puerto Rico and the Lesser Antilles, but has been introduced to a number of tropical regions around the world. Very fragrant 5-petaled flowers bloom at the tips of branches from spring to fall. The flowers are white with a yellow center. The flowers have a very fragrant aroma. The fruit is a cylindrical pod (up to 8") which rarely forms during cultivation. The leaves are lanceolate to oval, scattered, horizontal, 12.5-20 cm long[4,5].

HISTORY:

The Frangipani plant originates from South & Central America and was brought to America by Spanish priests. Frangipani will only burn in extreme heat over 500 degrees.

Frangipani essential oil cannot be extracted by distillation due to the delicate nature of the flower. Enfleurage is a traditional extraction method used in the 18th and 19th centuries until the early 20th century on frangipani flowers. In traditional medicine frangipani oil is used as a vermifuge or as a laxative[6,7].
