Description:

Gurjun dark also known as "Gurjun Balsam", and identified by the botanical name Dipterocarpus Turbinatus, gurjun essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the wood, gum, and resin of the gurjun tree. Gurjun Balsam is actually a natural oleoresin. Gurjun Balsam Oil still bears a strong resemblance to copaiba balsam, with a sweet and woody aroma that retains the drying, balsamic pine. The resulting oil is pale yellow to dark brown.

The aromatherapy benefits of Gurjun Balsam essential oil are primarily related to breathing. Although noted cicatrisant essential oil, we recommend Cistus essential oil for that purpose. Shown to mix with filtered Foraha (Tamanu) carrier oil for bedsores and inflammatory skin conditions. Based on pharmacological studies that have been carried out on Dipterocarpus, the content of these secondary metabolites shows interesting biological activities and pharmacological effects such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, and antifungal.
