Description:

Mentha (also known as peppermint), a genus of plants in the taxonomic family Lamiaceae (mint family), is widely distributed throughout the world's temperate drinking waters. Peppermint essential oil is obtained from the fractional distillation process of mint oil, where the resulting oil is colorless and has a distinctive peppermint aroma. Peppermint oil has main components consisting of menthol, menthone, neomenthol and iso-menthone, which are volatile metabolites with biological activities including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, scoliside, immunomodulator, antitumor, neuroprotective, antiphatic and antioxidant. Much evidence shows that PEO can pharmacologically protect the gastrointestinal, liver, kidney, skin, respiratory, brain and nervous systems, as well as providing hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects.
