Description:

Patchouli oil, extracted from the dried leaves and young twigs of Pogostemon cablin by steam distillation method is one of the important essential oils which is widely used in perfumery. Despite its heavy, woody, earthy characteristics and camphor odor, it has long-lasting and strong fixative properties.

The main and important chemical compounds of patchouli oil are patchouli alcohol, α-bulnesene, seychelene, β-caryophyllene, α-guaiene, norpatchoulenol, α-patchou-lene, β-patchoulene and pogostol. Research says that the aroma of patchouli oil is stronger than other essential oils obtained from plants. This makes patchouli an oil that blends well with other essential oils and gives it a strong, alluring smell and long-lasting qualities that help prevent evaporation. Due to its strong and long-lasting fixative properties, patchouli is widely used as an essential ingredient in many perfumery products. Additionally, patchouli oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-depressant and insect repellent properties.
