THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS:
Tea tree oil has strong antimicrobial activity due to the compounds terpinen-4-ol and α-terpineol. In addition, tea tree oil has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiprotozoal activities. The antibacterial activity of tea tree oil is greatly influenced by the 1,8-cineole component which is often considered to have marginal antimicrobial activity. The most abundant compound in tea tree oil is terpinen-4-ol so it has anti-inflammatory properties. Terpinen-4-ol has a major influence on the effect of inhibiting inflammation. So, tea tree oil has great benefits for health products to fight microbial infections[10,11,12,13,14,15,16].

This information is for topical use only
and is not intended to replace prescribed medication or professional medical
advice or to diagnose any health condition.
Never ingest essential oils and remember to dilute them with a suitable carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil. This is due to the fact that organic and pure essential oils are highly concentrated liquids and direct application of essential oils to the skin can cause allergic reactions. Talk to your healthcare practitioner before selecting the right essential oil for your health condition and unique individual constitution.

Extraction method: Steam distillation
DESCRIPTION:
Tea tree is a native plant from Australia
that is rich in health benefits. Tea tree plant processing is often done by
taking its essential oil. Our tea tree essential oil is obtained from the
extraction process of dried leaves. The extraction process is carried out using
the steam distillation method. Tea tree essential oil has many health benefits,
especially those caused by microbes. Tea tree essential oil has strong
antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Today, tea tree oil is
used as an over-the-counter topical agent to treat acne, dandruff, athlete’s
foot and a variety of other skin conditions[1,2,3].
BOTANICAL OVERVIEW:
M. alternifolia belongs to the Myrtaceae
family and the Melaleuca genus, and is native to Oceania and has been used in
traditional Australian medicine by Aboriginal people. It grows in cool, moist
coastal areas of Eastern Australia at an altitude of 300 m. Morphologically,
Melaleuca alternifolia is a shrubby plant that grows up to 7 m tall, with a
layered, papery bark. The leaves are patterned, with petioles 1 mm long;
pointed-linear with dimensions of 10-35 mm x 1 mm. Growing in dense swamps, M.
alternifolia flowers profusely and generally blooms in October and November.
The flowers are produced in loose terminal spikes, white to cream, which can
give the tree a “smooth” appearance. Organoleptic characteristics indicate that
the leaves have a distinctive odor and an astringent taste[4,5,6,7].
HISTORY:
Tea tree essential oil comes from the
leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, a plant native to Australia. It has been used
by Aboriginal people for thousands of years as a natural remedy for wounds,
skin infections, and inflammation by crushing the leaves to apply topically or
brewing them into an herbal tea.
In the early 20th century, Dr. Arthur
Penfold studied tea tree oil and found that its antiseptic properties were 13
times stronger than phenol, the standard antiseptic of the time. During World
War II, the oil was used in Australian soldiers’ first aid kits to treat wounds
and infections. Although its popularity waned due to the introduction of
synthetic antibiotics, tea tree oil enjoyed a resurgence in the late 20th
century thanks to the growing trend of natural remedies.
Tea tree essential oil is often used to treat acne, skin irritations, dandruff, and minor infections. It is also used as a natural household cleaner, insect repellent, and even as a mouthwash to fight the bacteria that cause bad breath.
In aromatherapy, tea tree oil helps freshen the air and fight bacteria. However, because of its strong nature, it usually needs to be diluted before being applied directly to the skin. Tea tree oil should not be taken orally as it can cause toxicity, and a skin test should be performed to prevent allergic reactions. With its wide range of benefits, tea tree essential oil remains a popular choice in health, beauty, and household cleaning treatments[8,9].
